withdrawal mode again...

Ok, one more entry about football and I will put this to rest until mid August (that's when the new football season will commence for those of you who don't know).

It has been a week since the curtains closed for Euro 2008. The Spaniards did it and with style as well. I did not watched much of their matches because I was too mesmerised by the Dutch to notice that the Spaniards were a much stronger team (and some good looking players too). I saw them played in the semi finals againsts the Russians, who defeated the Dutch in the quarter finals. Well, I saw the second half only but I didn't miss much because the first half ended without any goals. The second half however, was spectacular. That Fabregas lad, he was amazing – contributed to 2 of the 3 goals scored in the second half.

Although the Spaniards sealed the final with just one goal in the first half but their performance throughout the match was magnificent. I will not dwell on the final match but I felt that for once, a good team has deservedly won a major football final for once. Phil Ball wrote an article on EPSN's soccernet.com which echoed the sentiments of most football fans, including yours truly. It was probably one of the best written articles I have ever read and I could not help but read it over and over again.

Yesterday, I was in such withdrawal. It was Saturday, I was very much under the weather, stayed under the blanket in my bed but there was no live football on the tele to keep me entertained. I ended watching a couple of chick flicks on DVDs. There are still about 6 weeks left before the new football season starts and 6 more weeks of withdrawal, with the occasional times where I will watching classic matches being re-run on the football matches.
